Ten Years!

We celebrated our ten year anniversary a little early by taking a three day trip to the San Antonio Riverwalk. We spent our actual anniversary, June 21st, sleeping in bunk bed in a house with three families over the reunion! One of the other siblings shares an anniversary and we debated whether their hotel room shared with their four teenage boys or our bunk beds were more romantic.

My wonderful Mom offered to watch our girls - we looked at a bunch of different options but the Riverwalk fit perfectly. It is just a short drive so we didnt waste time traveling, has tons of mexican food (read:queso) and we found a good hotel deal. It was wonderful and very relaxing. We traveled a bunch in the past and this last year has been so busy that we just wanted to be together with nothing to really do. We started out by stopping at the outlets and shopping without kids, which was more exciting than it sounds! We would stay up watching crime shows (our favorite from early marriage years) and sleep a solid ten every night (while in Austin the girls traded off getting up at 5:30 am, we were tired). We started off our days with brunch at an old grain mill my brother recommended and wandered along the river walk and just enjoyed spending time together.

We went to a different Mexican place every night, I did drag Jamie back to one place for dessert because they had the most amazing virgin Coconut Margarita.

This is a lame picture, but on our first day we went to a glass blowing place my family recommended. It was fascinating to watch. We bought this glass (probably going to use it as a vase) as a keepsake.

The next day we headed out to a different brunch place (it was on Diners, Drive ins and Dives - it was horrible) and realized we had awhile before our movie time. We also realized that somehow we have never been mini golfing together which is like a Provo dating rite of passage. 10 years later we went on our first mini golf date. Jamie won, I wasnt even close.

I love Star Trek. I grew up watching the Next Generation with my Dad so I was dying to see the new movie (it also has Sherlock in it!) but wanted to wait until I had Lasik. We went to an afternoon showing at the Alamo Drafthouse.

It was so nice to just talk and be together, we were excited to head back and see the kids but it couldnt have been a more perfect, low-key trip. The last ten years have been more of an adventure than I ever imagined and Jamie remains the perfect match for me.
